Transitions:
1. Joe banging on the door ‘Let us in!’ – Chris
opens the door.
2. End of Joe’s scene ‘Who else is there?’ – Jay
and Millie’s argument is heard.
3. End of Jay and Millie’s scene ‘What are we going
to do with them?’ – Jay leads them out.
4. End of Jay and Dave’s scene ‘I have nothing’ –
Millie walks onto main altar with candle.
5. End of Stevie’s story Millie says to Joe ‘That
wasn’t necessary’ – Millie runs off to get Stevie.
6. End of Joe and Kieran’s scene Millie says
‘Ssshh! I can hear them’ – leads into soundscape.
7. End of soundscape everyone stays where they are
ready for ‘When Will Someone Hear’ at end of this Millie joins the others –
leads into Angry Dance.
8. End of Angry Dance look out into audience and
notice Stevie’s gone.
9. ‘We cant afford to back out now’, ‘I thought we
were in this together?’, ‘The whole point is that we aren’t going to do this
alone…’.
10. End
of ‘People Help the People’, ears to floor – Stevie says ‘What now?’ – leads
into argument (Whether God is actually here etc.)
11. End of argument, Joe says ‘STOP! We need to
remember who we were before the riots…’ – leads into Paramore.
12. End
of Paramore, Stevie decides to leave the church, slow motion – leads into
another argument how we’ve ‘killed’ Stevie.
13. As
argument quietens, acceptance that we are going to die eventually – leads into
what we wanted to be when we grew up – leads into conflict with Joe and Dave.
14. Dave stands up for himself ‘I am going to die
fighting’ etc. Leads into Coldplay ‘Us Against The World’ – End.
Above is a list we made of the transitions from scene to scene. We did this because we wanted to make sure we knew exactly what was coming and how we were doing it. This list will also help our extras/ushers as they will need to know when to move the audience and when they're needed during particular scenes. Moreover, I'm really glad we decided to do this as there was one transition that we didn't have, which was Angry Dance to our Birdy Dance - as a whole it was useful to sit down as a group and discuss various ways in what we could do. Overall, everyone can now read this and have a clear idea what happens when :)
